The Racers class (3-4 year olds) meet Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday mornings from 9:30 to 11:30. The Racers engage in many of the same activities as the Rookies, but with a greater emphasis on more cooperative play and also with more structure.
Racers have the opportunity on a daily basis to explore with paint, playdough, markers, scissors, and table manipulatives. They can engage in dramatic play at the dress-up area and housekeeping corner and experiment at the water table and the science table.
The Racers have two circle times daily. First, they do the calendar and the weather report. Then they do science experiments and engage in flannel board stories. The second circle is story time where books are read and songs are sung.
The children also exercise their bodies in outside play and in the "big muscle" room.
The Rookies and Racers use the same room on different days.
